Inside the movement
The weekly action toolkit for the climate movement.

DON’T JUST SURVIVE, THRIVE!

Welcome to the official launch of ITM, the weekly action toolkit for the climate movement. We hope you like our new design and find it even easier to take climate action.

EVERYTHING here is actionable. We give you clear guidance on what to do, with SHARE LINKS and ACTIONS ITEMS. Feel free to explore as much as you like and let us know what you think. We'll be back EVERY WEEK with new campaigns, actions, events and climate content.

This week, Discovery Channel buddies up with big oil, the big banks have some explaining to do and the THRIVE agenda finally takes center stage. Also, CO2 concentrations reached their highest point in human history ... 420 ppm, which is way too high.

Our house is on fire. But there are things YOU CAN DO — and they don't have to take much time. Each week, we bring you the top campaigns, actions and events — with links to everything to make taking action as easy as possible.

Frontline Indigenous youth from Line 3, Dakota Access, Line 5, KXL and Mountain Valley pipelines take to the streets in D.C. to demand Biden #ShutdownDAPL and #StopLine3.

Incredible — and terrifying — journalism from the NYTimes showing what could happen if glacial melt keeps slowing the Gulf Stream.

THE YEAR EARTH CHANGED — While the world was on lockdown during 2020, nature flourished. David Attenborough narrates. (Apple TV+)

Climate science can be overwhelming. Here’s your easy-to-share highlight reel.
TALK TO KIDS ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE

Climate change has already started to impact everything we know. Have you talked to your kids about it all? Science Moms helps you do it.

METHANE'S BIG BROTHER

How do you fight an enemy that’s invisible? A new high-tech drone can now spot dangerous methane leaks so we can take care of the problem before we’re poisoned.

BURN NOTICE

Three weeks ahead of schedule, Phoenix is already experiencing highs near 100. That’s very bad news for the Southwest, which now experiences fire season nearly year-round.

EARTH BENDING

Climate change isn’t all melting glaciers. See how the earth is bending borders and shifting the land beneath our feet.

THIS PLASTIC GROWS ON TREES

Traditional plastic is made using fossil fuels, but a team of Yale scientists just created an alternative using wood powder from lumber mills. That best part? It’s biodegradable!

Here’s what it looks like when people show up, voices ring loud and leaders act for the sake of the planet.
TECH BEATS LOGGERS

These Indigenous Amazonians use satellite data, smartphones and drones to fight illegal logging in the Amazon rainforest.

DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS

Even though they were criminalized for protesting at home, these Texas activists took the fight to Europe to stop liquified natural gas terminals — and they’re winning!

BIDEN FOR ELECTRIC RIDIN'

The race to go electric is ON. And Biden’s all in with $174 billion to encourage Americans to make the switch.

CALIFORNIA POWER COUPLE

Two elements, one structure. Covering California’s water canals with solar power saves land, water AND generates electricity.

BARCELONA UN-PAVES THE WAY

Plagued by crippling pollution, Barcelona is shutting down city streets and transforming “super blocks” into car-unfriendly green zones. Spain is taking back the streets!

420: WAY TOO HIGH
Climate scientists told us we couldn’t go over 350 parts per million of CO2 in the atmosphere. We just reached 420 ppm for the first time in human history. Here’s what that means for all of us.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST
How can we trust the largest U.S. banks to act on climate when 3 out of 4 board members have ties to companies that oppose it? We can’t.
WILL THRIVE SURVIVE?
The THRIVE act would bring us to 100% clean energy by 2035, create 15 million union jobs and invest in BIPOC communities. But will it pass?
SIX DEGREES OF BULLS#!T
Discovery+ and fossil fuels are now working hand in hand. Mike Rowe has teamed up with Big Oil to create a show that gives “shoutouts” to the oil and gas industry.
ROTTEN MILK, ROTTEN MEAT
Big Oil has an ally. Of the world’s 35 largest meat and dairy companies, only 4 have pledged to reach zero emissions by 2050. The other 31 companies? Yeah, they’re spending hundreds of millions of dollars lobbying against climate change.

Each week we highlight a few climate groups doing awe-inspiring, planet-saving work. Join them, help them, even toss them a few bucks. They’ll appreciate anything you can do.

350.org is the largest grassroots climate organization on the planet. Most recently, 350 has been leading the charge to defund fossil fuels by targeting the big banks propping up the industry.

Climate Council is a climate change communications organization that educates the Australian public on solutions and the most up-to-date science available. Now, the group has teamed up with athletes to call on their community and inspire climate action.

Honor the Earth is an Indigenous-led organization that brings awareness to environmental issues on Native land. Most recently, the group has been at the forefront of the fight against Line 3.
